The Contemporary Ceramics Workshop of Mirta Morigi, together with her talented team, is located in the heart of Faenza, world-renowned for its ceramic tradition.
For many years, the atelier has produced original, pop-inspired ceramics, instantly recognizable for their distinctive and provocative naturalistic bestiary. Reptiles and amphibians—lizards and chameleons—become sculptural handles or climb across distorted forms with the proud energy of prehistoric creatures.

Guests are guided on a fascinating journey through the styles that have made Faenza majolica famous worldwide, while remaining faithful to the most rigorous tradition of Faenza faience.
Visiting an artisan workshop is truly a journey through time—an immersion into centuries of craftsmanship and knowledge.
During the visit, participants receive a full introduction to the ceramics course, which includes both modeling and decoration.
Hands-on Experience
Working with clay is a deeply engaging and rewarding activity. Participants will experiment with different hand-building techniques, including:
- Coiling
- Slab building
- Pinching
These methods allow the creation of small, unique artifacts.
Clay is one of humanity’s oldest materials—used to preserve memory, daily life, and artistic expression across centuries. Shaping it is also therapeutic: it reconnects us with creativity, freeing both hands and imagination.
Decoration Process
Participants will decorate pre-fired (biscuit) ceramic pieces using traditional glazing techniques and colors derived from metal oxides.
